All properties require a meter deposit prior to services transfer to tenant’s name. Example of fees:
- Meter deposit is currently $200.00 (with all required information)**see below
- Meter deposit without any of the required information $250.00
- Garbage fee is currently $18.55
- Re-connection due to nonpayment $85.60
Payment for all fees is required prior to transfer to tenants name. Payment options:

Here are some questions you maybe asking yourself.
- Can my deposit be used to make payments on my account?
The City of Eagle Grove does not allow regular payments on account to be made with your deposit. However, The City of Eagle Grove uses your deposit to pay your final bill provided you are not moving to another rental property in Eagle Grove and will have utility services in your name. The remainder will be forwarded to your new location you provided. -
When will I see my first utility bill and what do I need to know?
Post card sized bills go out to every resident by the end of EACH month. You should see it the first week of EACH month. If you do not receive it, please call 515-448-4343 for your total amount due. Payment options are: cash, check, money order, debit card or credit card. Please keep in mind, if payment is not received by the:- 15th – we apply a 10% late penalty on the 16th.
- 20th – we send out Disconnection notice ($15 fee applies)
- Last week of month – we Disconnect all unpaid bill (fee applies)
- What happens to my deposit?
Customers who move to a new rental unit in Eagle Grove will have the deposit transferred to their new account. They will need to provide payment for the final bill on their previous account. - What do I do when I move?
If you are moving out of your apartment or house, you must contact City Hall (448-4343) at least two (2) days in advance of the final date of service in order to get the utility services out of your name. You will also need to let us know your forwarding address. Only authorized people on the account can make changes to the account. Note: The city only reads meters Monday through Friday (excluding holidays); therefore the final date of service, if on a holiday or weekend, will be moved to the next business day. - How early can you put your garbage out?
Though most people think of “Trash Day” as the day of the week on which their garbage is collected, many of us place our refuse on the curb the night before. - But how early is too early to put out the trash?
Well, lets first go over what the City allows, according to City Code, garbage shall not be stored outside for more than 48 hours. Trash Pick up is early so please have yours set out by 7am on your pick-up date.
Here are some garbage facts:
- You are allowed 2 bags per week
- Your bags can not be bigger than 30-gallon bags.
- Orange bags are available for sale at Fareway for extra garbage.
- Burning of garbage is prohibited.
- Trash Day is determined by the part of town.
- SW – Monday
- NW – Tuesday
- NE – Thursday
- SE – Friday
- Pick up will be a day behind for the following:
- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
